This year the Contemporary is providing several vehicles for the public to preview the work of artists participating in the Open Studios event prior to the weekend opening.
PREVIEW PARTY
Tuesday, July 15
5:30 - 9:30 pm, Free admission
Join us at the Contemporary from 5:30pm to 9:30pm for a preview party, which will exhibit a sample work from each participating artist. The exhibition will remain on view during normal business hours throughout the week.
THE MAP
Pick up a map of participating artist studios at the Contemporary or download it from this website by clicking here. Each stop on the map will introduce visitors to artists working in a wide range of media – oil, watercolors, photography, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, glass, and metal – as well as other visual and performance arts.

OPEN STUDIOS WEEKEND
Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20
More than 100 artists invite the public to view their studio spaces in St. Louis City, University City, and Maplewood - some of St. Louis’ most diverse and energetic neighborhoods. Guests are invited to tour the various spaces from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20. Visitors will experience the spaces in which artists’ creative inventions come alive. There are no fees or reservations required to visit these private studios.
TOURS
Take a FREE guided trolley tour led by Chief Curator Anthony Huberman on Saturday, July 19. The trolley will leave the museum at 12:00 pm and will stop by studios chosen by Huberman. The tour will return to the Contemporary at 4:00 pm. You can also take part in a bike tour brought to us by TREK Bicycle Store on Saturday and Sunday. The tour begins at 10:00 am at the Contemporary each day. For more information on the FREE tours, click here.
THE STARVING ARTISTS BBQ
Sunday, July 20
To wrap up the Open Studios event, the Contemporary will host the Starving Artists BBQ Celebration immediately following Sunday’s Open Studios from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. This will be the perfect time to relax and share new knowledge gained during the Open Studios experience with family, friends, and participating artists. The BBQ will take place in the Courtyard at the Contemporary.

It would be extremely helpful, if you would put the medium that the artist works in on the website and in your folder. There are just too many for us to visit, and not every artist shows a sample of their work on your website.
